Who benefits from the work of ARX

Independent advocacy benefits a wide range of people who experience discrimination and lack of opportunity as a consequence of their disability or other disadvantage, and lack of ability to defend their rights and express their views. This group includes people with substantial learning and other disabilities, users of mental health services, people from different ethnic minority communities, young and old people in vulnerable positions and refugees and asylum seekers among others.

ARX supports these people , as well as their families and carers so they can access appropriate, high quality advocacy by providing resources and information to strengthen and sustain the efforts of local advocacy groups.

ARX also works with other professionals , particularly those working in the health and social care sector to increase their understanding advocacy by providing training on a advocacy and related issues.

The Advocacy Resource Finder is open to anyone who has an enquiry about advocacy. It may be a person that is seeking advocacy for themselves or a family or friend; a professional that wants to refer a person to an advocacy organisation or someone that just wants to know more about advocacy.
