Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the name given to a condition in which people experience repetitive and upsetting thoughts and/or behaviours. OCD Action is the largest national charity focusing on Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Their vision is of a society where OCD is better understood and diagnosed quickly, where appropriate treatment options are open and accessible, where support and information are readily available and where nobody feels ashamed to ask for help. They provide support and information to anybody affected by OCD, work to raise awareness of the disorder amongst the public and frontline healthcare workers and strive to secure a better deal for people with OCD.

Counselling directory

Last updated on Thursday 4th August by Janet Badger

This website is a useful resource for those looking for support or general advice about counselling.

The purpose of the site is ultimately to provide the UK with a huge counselling support network, enabling those in distress to find a counsellor close to them and appropriate for their needs. This is a free, confidential service that will hopefully encourage those in distress to seek help. The website also contains a number of sections on emotional disorders (types of distress section) and provides some useful statistics. Every counsellor on the site who has submitted their profile has either sent a copy of their qualifications and insurance cover to us, or is registered with a professional body online with recognised codes of ethics and practice, this way we can be assured of their professionalism.
